Camp | 1 | There are multiple types and brands available in Kmart, ALDI, BCF and others. A good name is Anaconda for quality stuff. A thumb of rule is to lower the actual capacity by 2 so if the ad says it is for 7 people, in reality only 5 will fit comfortably. Suggest looking on Facebook marketplace or Gumtree as a lot of people sell this stuff in great condition with much lower price.The one below is $224 for 8 people (means 6 can stay comfortably). A similar used can one can be easily available on Facebook marketplace or Gumtree under $100. If you are buying used, make sure you inspect is properly that it is not torn out or something from any side. The last thing you want in a camp night is a whole for mosquitos and bugs to get in. https://www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/tents/family-tents/oztrail-hightower-mansion-8p-tent/BP90113088 |
Camp Beds | Per person | You can either buy sleeping bags, air mattress or stretcher beds. Stretcher beds are most comfortable. These are light weight, ok for kids but not very comfortable for adults https://www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/sleeping/stretchers-beds/spinifex-explorer-stretcher/BP90026101 These are better for adults https://www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/sleeping/stretchers-beds/spinifex-easy-camp-stretcher/BP90133481 BCF had this one on sale, check if its still the case https://www.bcf.com.au/p/wanderer-easy-out-stretcher-single/520766.html?gclid=CjwKCAiAi_D_BRApEiwASslbJyP1k3vs5wasjF1tc1sb6FScnBmb9GmumLTcMIYRMMhOMwAtqEE0rRoCH7MQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Wherever you buy from, suggest try it on a sample by laying down and see how it feels on it. Also check the max weight your bed or stretcher can hold, its always mentioned. Also, if you plan to buy air mattress make sure you have a battery powered air pump with it. There is no power at the camp to run the pump and you can't inflate it with mouth air :) |
Pillows and blankets | Per person | Ensure you keep blankets, camping nights are quiet cold and it will be difficult without a blanket. |
Foldable camping chairts | 3/4 | Its good to have some to sit outside in the evening. |
Hand torch, head lamp, lantern | The camps are usually unpowered. Get some hand torches, head torches and lanterns. Kmart is the cheapest. https://www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/lighting-electronics/lanterns/dorcy-led-lantern/BP90053524 https://www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/lighting-electronics/lanterns/spinifex-4d-battery-lantern/BP90118920
Towel, extra cloths, sun-screen | There is a river and kdis have plans to dive, do extra cloths will help. There are hot showers available near camping.
Basic First Aid | Disprin, paracetamol, band-aid etc.
COMMON ITEMS | ||

Foot table | 1 | We already have one, suggest we get one more and that should be enough https://www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/camp-furniture/tables/lifetime-5-foot-table/BP90111182 |
Burner Stove | 1 | There is an electric BBQ available there however making tea is difficult for a large group. We will buy a stove and get the gas cylinder from petrol station. |
Car Trailer | 1 | Check if you will be able to fit all the stuff in your car. I am unable to so last time I rented an extra car (costed roughly around $100 per day). But if you guys also can't fit your stuff in then we can hire a trailer and all of ours camping gear can go in it. Need to check prices but I am hoping it will be cheaper. |
Fire logs for camp fire, marshmallows | We will buy.
Esky | 1 | Does anyone has it already? |
Water cooler | Drinking water is available nearby so it won't be a problem but it will be good to have a small cooler for your family so you don't have to run to the block everytime kids are asking for water.
Food (lunch + dinner + breakfast), cold drinks | TBD
Disposable plates, glasses, spoons etc. | TBD
ANYTHING ELSE | ||
What are the other things? | The above is pretty much the essentials, if you want to see what else can we get checkout this checklist below: http://www.lovetheoutdoors.com/camping/checklists.htm |
